The rigid body displacement, which should be allowed, makes the analysis more complex. In this paper, anovel method, based on nonlinear FEM, is applied and the rigid body displacement analysis is avoided. Therefore the analysis for whole procedures of the cable domes is unified. The initial displacement assumption method is also put forward to reduce the number of iterations.
